My 2010 Motto is...

I know everyone is picking one word, but I just couldn't come up with one word. I'm gonna rebel (totally not me!) and instead, pick a motto. So, my 2010 motto is

LESS is MORE.

Less stuff, less debt, less weight, less stress, less waste.

Less Stuff
I hate clutter. And we don't have much clutter, especially since 2009 was the Year of the Family for us (I dubbed it that) and I got rid of tons of clutter. But with the kids' toys and my photography stuff, it's getting to be a bit much. I am ready to get down to basics and get rid of everything but the bare necessities.

Less Debt
We did a great job in 2009 of paying off debt. We're down to a personal family loan and DH's school loan. They're both pretty large, so we won't be able to pay them off in 2010, but I intend to make a good dent in them while also saving a nice chunk of change.

Less Weight
I started 2010 at 335ish. I will be under 250 (hopefully by quite a bit!) by the first day of 2011.

Less Stress
DH and I have some big changes heading our way, and if all goes well, a HUGE part of our stress is about to be alleviated. For fear of jinxing ourselves, I won't go into detail yet, but I will soon.

Less Waste
I really want to make this year about wasting less which will help with the less stuff and less debt parts of my motto. No wasted food, no wasted money, no buying unnecessary stuff, no impulse shopping (grocery or otherwise). We are also going to work on being greener - fewer one-use items and so on.

So, there you have it. My 2010 motto. I'm pretty excited about 2010 - I am looking forward to living a much simpler life.

  1. Love it!! Many of my goals were around this same concept, but I never thought to phrase it like that.

  2. Great motto! I think all of us can relate to it one way or another, I know I definetly can! You do a great job on setting goals for yourself and holding yourself accountable so I don't have a doubt in my mind that you can keep to this one!

  3. Terrific motto for 2010. Hey, I also wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your "what do you want your life to look like" post. It seemed to have a profound effect on lots of bandsters, I know it did for me. I think having the band and the power to lose weight helps empower women to make active choices about what they want for their lives. Thanks for sharing... I'm going to therapy weekly also, and it's been life changing. I'll probably share more on my blog at some point.

  4. AMY! I was so confused when I got the email from blogger that AMY had commented on my post...I was like...what did i write on my own post? And then I remembered that I am Amy W.! Why didn't I know you had a blog? Obviously I have been oblivious! I am a follower now so I can stay on top of things! Thanks for the comment and although it will sound terribly selfish, it is nice to find bloggers who started at weight near mine.

  5. I like your motto for the year Amy. I hope you have a terrific year and I have no doubt you'll be less than 250 by 2011. The only thing that won't be less this year is the amount of support you have from me and all the fellow bandsters. Let's make 2010 our year to shine!!
