Photos of real people with real BMIs

I found this quite interesting...and eye-opening.

Illustrated BMI Categories

It's pictures of people complete with their height, weight, and BMI. I actually guessed correctly on probably 80% of them, but it was definitely difficult on many of them. I was wrong the most often on people being overweight vs. normal.

  1. Amy.. eye opening is right.. to be honest with you.. I think I will be very happy just being overweight.. even some of the people labelled obese didn't look that bad to me.. I had to chuckle at some of the comments.. One lady had a BMI that put here in the overweight category and someone commented "NO SHE IS NOT".. maybe it was her..

  2. I don't think I'll ever be normal - in more ways than one.

  3. That's quite interesting. I was surprised at many of the overweight people being in that category. I would be more that happy to get just there.
Thanks for posting this. It helps with setting some goals.

  4. Now see? This is why BMI's are just so wrong! I was trying to guess some of these and was surprised that they were 'overweight' but jeez, they look thin and healthy to me. No wonder people get confused. I mean really, Shauna at 5' 4" at 150 pounds is overweight? BMI says she is but she looks thin. Pfft.
    Great post, Amy.
PS You look amazing, doll. I saw your new profile pic and you've updated your look. So pretty!!)

  5. Oh I've sen that before, it's so interesting to see all the different body types. My goal weight is still overweight and I'll be OK with it.

  7. This was kind of disturbing. I think the "overweight" folks were the most "normal" looking to me. A lot of the "normal" people looked like they were too thin. I would be happy to end up overweight and maybe even on the lower side of obese.

  9. WOW, thank you so much, this is something I am ALWAYS curious about. I have always believed that BMI is not very accurate, so I don't really follow it at all, but sometimes look to see where I am and how much my magic number has gone down since the beginning. I would love to be as skinny as those "overweight" girls!!
