Blah blah blah

That's how I am feeling, blah blah blah. It's just been a crazy couple of days.

DS has been constipated for about 10 days and after trying home remedies (prune juice, apple juice, etc.), cutting his milk consumption in half, and even an enema, we had to make a trek to the ped in the pouring rain to get a prescription for Miralax. Poor kid - he is just miserable. And poor me - dragging two kids to the ped and then to the pharmacy in the pouring rain was not fun (I have to buckle them both into and out of carseats, so it's not quick process). I tried to go through the drive-through at Rite Aid (I shop there a lot!) and they would not fill the prescription in less than an hour. I don't get it - every other pharmacy in town can fill a prescription in 10 min or less, and they need an hour? So, I took my prescription back (the guy was a total a$$ about it), and drug them through a monsoon into Costco. Rite Aid is getting a nasty email today...I am solo-parenting with two young kids, one of whom is screaming because he hasn't pooped in a week, who is trying to fill a prescription in the pouring rain at dinner time and you can't help out a loyal customer by speeding up the process, just this once? Seriously.

Anyhow, DD was a total pistol last night - would not go to bed. Tried letting her lay in my bed. She was beyond tired at that point, was all pissy and o.m.g. I hit my limit with her - I actually yelled at her and shut her in her room where she proceeded to scream for 30 min at 11 pm. I was so. done. So. done. SO. DONE. I then had to work until 3 am on stuff for my job, just because I am so far behind. Ugh.

DD woke up this morning still in a pissy mood, probably because she is still tired. When I asked if she wanted a diaper or a pull-up, she threw a fit and cried that she wanted to "wear her butt." It's funny, but how do you reason with that? Sigh.

I PB'ed my lunch yesterday (very tender, very saucy chicken tikka masala), so liquids yet again for me for 24+ hours. I think I'm just going to give up on solid food and live on frappes, protein shakes, soup, and hot cocoa for the rest of my life. Good news is I am down yet again this AM - aiming for 70 lbs by my six-month bandiversary, which is totally doable at this point. But liquids is getting really old. The PA said if I can keep liquid down (which I can just fine), I can just ride it out. But I am soooo tired of liquids. Oh well, it'll eventually loosen up, right? (In case you forgot, my surgeon's protocol if you are too tight is last fill plus half of the previous fill OUT as an unfill. Um, no thanks.)

And while this is an NSV, I am finding it highly annoying. My wedding rings are spinning freely on my finger...I hate when the engagement ring flips over. Drives me batty.

Signed,

Cranky Amy

  1. Poor Amy! The car seats and the shlep and the no pooping... misery. I'm so sorry; I hope your little guy is pooping soon. Miralax always works for me, so hopefully it'll help him too.

Ugh on the liquids. That just bites; I'm right there with you. Going to see my surgeon and if they have the protocol your surgeon has, I may burst into tears in the middle of the office. I'll let you know.

Bummer being only on liquids..It's great for weight loss..but not easy to have that for every meal..

  3. You need to be on a liquid diet...a Margarita diet. You sure do have your hands full! You are doing great with all of this. I'd be in a straight jacket by now. I wonder if they recognize special dietary needs in the nut house. Maybe we can check in together and get margarita IV's!?

  4. Ugh, my heart goes out to you! I hope your DS gets relief soon - that is so painful. And I hope your DD gets some sleep! Such a cute argument...that's good to wear her butt! :) I hope you get some sleep, too - 3am isn't easy when mornings are calling the next day! Hang in there...

  6. benefiber works great on my daughter. She get's constipated frequently (has a problem called encopresis) and she frequently will go DAYS without a #2 and get's backed up like rush hour traffic. We dissolve the benefiber in her apple juice (we call it "special apple juice") and he has a BM within 12 hours...which usually clogs the toilet it is so huge. Liek a sweet potato floating in the bowl. :) good luck to you!

  7. Nothing is worse than a child who is constipated. I went thru hell with my son from baby to age 6! I am so sorry you have to go thru it! Let me know if you need any help or suggestions!

  10. Okay...first things first...the "wear my butt" comment! Oh geez...I totally cracked up. I'm sorry. That's hilarious (well from my view point anyways -- I wasn't dealing with a cranky kiddo) :)

That sucks about your surgeons unfill protocol. Have you tried drinking something warm/hot about 10 minutes or so before eating? I know its hard when on the run, but before dinner each night I try to start drinking some hot tea just before eating because I always (and sometimes still do) had issues with getting stuck within the first bite or two of dinner and would end up PBing. If I drink something warm, it does tend to help a little bit.

  12. Oh man...blast that pharmacy...what a joke. I think your Dr's unfill policy is a joke too....perhaps they need a letter too??? Hope the cranky mood lifts and DD gets to wear her butt and DS does a poo....all fun!!! LOL NOT

  13. This literally could've been my post, about the kids at least. I noticed when my little one gets sick/cranky, my three year old gets feisty and irratable. Which then makes me frazzled. I can't blame her though, who wants to listen to their little sister cry non-stop, then get all mommy's attention? It's so easy to say that now but in the moment, a whole other story.

I give my little one 1/2 tbsp of mineral oil in a dropper, mixed with a little juice. Usually works within a day.

I'm all ears on potty training tips!!!

  14. OMG - I'm exhausted reading this - mostly because I've been there. Kids need to come with carseats installed on their asses where you push a button and they pop on and off - I hated putting them in them things - in the rain no less? You deserve a freaking medal. For realzers.
