No concept of my size

Is anyone else struggling with this?

Joey convinced me to try on a pair of jeans last night that I was 100000% positive where way, way, way too small. Like, I wasn't going to be able to get them over a thigh.

Wrong.

Up and zipped AND I was breathing.

Granted, they were a bit tighter than I would wear out in public, but nothing a few weeks of weight loss+gym time won't cure.

Oh, and they were size 20 from Old Navy! Yes, I know their stuff runs big, but we're going to forget we know that little nugget of information and just concentrate on the fact that I can wear size 20 pants!

But back to the original topic, I would have sworn they wouldn't fit. I honestly have no concept of what will fit and what won't when I look at clothing anymore. It's such a surreal feeling.

(And with this, I will spare you any more posts for the day...unless I win the lottery or Brett Favre issues me a personal apology for his disloyalty to the Packers and the Packer Nation and me, his one-time biggest fan. Oh, or if DH comes home and makes dinner or does anything besides lay on the couch. Yeah, those would all be blog-worthy.)

  1. It's funny, because I don't dare go in a "normal" store yet, because I don't want to be upset when they don't fit. Yet at the same time, I refuse to shop at lany bryant, Catherines or any other Plus Size store again. So needless to say, my wardrone is looking haphazard these days.

  2. We should also mention that they are a size regular size 20, not a 20W which are larger according to ON size charts (!!!!)

  3. YES this is a great NSV! Congrats!! I'm looking forward when I can go in to a 20 and be able to pull it up above my kneecaps.

  4. Great job!

I can't tell you how many times I've read someone's blog and they've said how much they weigh and I think, "No way! They can't weigh less than me. I was banded before them!" and then a second later I realize I weigh 20 lbs. less than them or something. I seriously have no idea what I weigh most of the time or what size I wear. It is almost funny!

  6. I totally understand. I put on a shirt from several years ago that was an XL. Now granted it is just t-shirt to work out in but I have been wearing mens 3x shirts for a while now and when it fit I freaked out. It's a good feeling.
As far as my camera goes, I am shooting with a Canon 30d that I found on ebay. Would LOVE a 5d but that is no where near my future. I am totally an amatueur anyway. You can check out my stuff at angelajoyvaughan.blogspot.com. We need to talk about photography because the pics of your kids are fabulous...would love to see more!

  7. Great job. I don't know if it is just me, but I haven't ever been able to wear stuff from Old Navy. I felt it was all too small for me. I do need to go look at some pants though. Maybe....

  8. I'm clueless about size also. I just bought underwear that I really thought would fit. They fell right off. Weird. I also have really enjoyed everyone's pictures today. What a great idea!

  10. I too am having a big problem shopping. I tried on a bunch of old stuff in my closet and they are too big. I had no pants for winter, they were falling off my butt. It is such a strange thing. It is probably the most astonishing thing that this weight loss has caused. So happy you are astonishing yourself.

  11. I have encountered this same issue this week. I needed a suit to wear for an interview and I went to the woman's department - picked out a size 18W - it was HUGE on me. Got a 16W, still too big...got a 14W...just a little too big (close, but a bit). Went to the regular size department - size 16, too small. Size 18 regular was perfect, but do you know how hard it is to find a size 18 regular in the ladies suit department??? Luckily I found one that looked great - but it was frustrating. Just one more size and I could have had my pick of bunch. Anyway...back to my point... I really thought I needed an 18W, really couldn't even believe I fit into an 18 regular!!! I love this band thing... Congrats to you! Sounds like you are doing great!

  12. I have the opposite problem. I look at clothes and think I should be able to fit into them, but can't, then get pissed. I like your concept better. Congrats on the pants.

  13. Pfft, Old navy pants fit small as far as I can tell. I wear 18 or 20 right now but still can't fit into any size 20s from Old Navy... there tops always run a little bigger, but the bottoms?? No way, they are always tight on me!

  18. Okay...I loved you before but your comments about the run. HILARIOUS! You and I are feeling the same way! I'm terrified but excited and just ready to do it!! I have to restart running as well, I can't even run a mile right now. But I have a feeling if we set this goal just like every other goal (e.g., a size 20 - CONGRATS!) We can do it Amy!!

  20. I still feel like a spy from team F.A.T. everytime I shop in "normal" sections. I feel like the sales girls are eyeing me, wondering what I think I'm doing in their section. It's surreal when stuff fits and looks ok... my.brain.can't.take.it.all.in...
