If I can stop crying long enough...

I'd post about how I have another slip. Which means:

  • TWO separate surgeries.
  • MORE expenses.
  • LONGER that I have to wait to get the sleeve which means that much longer I have to fight this stupid hunger.
I am meeting with the surgeon again tomorrow to iron out all the details. Right now, it looks like the band removal will be 8/24. Once he's in there and sees what kind of damage has been done, I'll have a timeline on the sleeve. Fingers crossed for sooner than later, obviously.

I'm quite upset. Quite. I cried through a conference call at work today. Fortunately, I didn't have to do much talking.

On another note, is anyone on MyFitnessPal? If so, let's be friends. Today is day two of low carb. I need LOTS of accountability!

  1. I am so sorry to hear this, Amy. The only good part is that you have a plan, and will get the sleeve in just six months. In the meantime, try to make a game plan for how you're going to get through those months. This just stinks. I am so very sorry to hear that you are going through this. :(

  2. Oh no. I am so sorry Amy. :( Is there anyway at all he can do both surgeries at once? If the damage isn't bad when he gets in there.

  8. Amy,
I am not sure if you know of not but I just went through this exact same situation. A lot of misery with a slipped band... surgeon removed it 7/2 and I will be sleeved in 6 months. I am gaining weight... trying to keep it minimal but I am finally in a good place in my head. I will be successful again, the band was not for me. It was a HUGE relief to get my band out and eat without pain or throwing up. I had become such a disfunctional eater... couldn't eat any veggies or fruit and all of that stuff is so amazing now. You are going to do it, this too will pass. 6 months will fly by! Hugs!

  10. I am so sad to hear the outcome.....I know it stinks but you have all the tools you need inside of yourself to do this! You know the rules, live by them. Remind yourself each and every day where you came from.

Wallpaper your kitchen for the next 6 months with pictures of you at our heaviest...LOL sorry some levity to ease your anxiety!

We are all here for you Amy and rooting for you! I know it seems awful right now, I cried for 10 days when I knew was losing my band.

I have never looked back, and I am still losing without it, so IT IS POSSIBLE!

    Hugs

  13. This just sucks. I can't sugarcoat it BUT you'll get through it. We have no choice but to put one foot in front of the other and embrace whatever life throws at us - even when it sucks donkey balls. Sorry hun.

  14. Oh no, I was hoping you didn't have a slip. So sorry to hear that. Ugh!! I know you can do it in the meantime though you have been an amazing success and the band didn't do it all alone! You did that work. NOT the band. It was just a little helper. Hang in there. I'm thinking of you.

  16. I am so sorry to hear this Amy... I know you can maintain or even lose during the in-between time, since you have lost all your weight with hard work and perseverance. Atkins helped you get over the hump, so the low carb is a great idea. You can do this... I am so sorry that you have to do it on your own for so long, but you have before. I understand what you are going through since my surgeon is also insisting on 2 separate surgeries and a 6 week recovery between the band removal and the bypass. I am so over the constant stress of worrying about what will happen between now and when I am through the bypass, Stress eaters should avoid extra stress. You will have a harder time since your weight is down so low, and you will have to work hard to keep it that way. Don't worry too much about losing, maintaining will be hard enough. BTW, Congrats on your photography... Your photos have always been amazing but the one of your kids hugging... Gorgeous! XOXO *M*

  17. My sweet. I'm right there with you, you know this. :( I just finished catching up and wow about the band and the damage. That's crazy. I'm glad you're on the other side and you're well. Who knows, maybe we will get the sleeve done at the same time and we can start this whole new journey together. :) I'm on MFP too, Diznegal. Look me up. :) *hugs* We CAN and we WILL get through this.
